Measuring Tips

Alterations may need to be done by a professional seamstress to give you a perfectly tailored fit, regardless of whether you purchase a dress online, or from a brick and mortar store. Refer to the Size Chart shown with each dress. Orderthe size that best matches your largest measurement (bust, waist, or hip), then plan to have the dress altered by your local seamstress, if needed. The exception is for ball gown or full, A-line style skirts, for which bust and waist measurements are more important than the hip measurement.

You should be aware that most dress manufacturers allow for "production tolerance", so measurements may vary plus or minus 1 to from the size chart.

How to Take Your Measurements
BUST: This measurement is taken around the fullest part of your bust.  Do this while wearing a bra style that you will wear with the dress.
IMPORTANT: This measurement is NOT the same as your bra size.
WAIST: measurement is around your waist, about 2 inches above your belly button.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE do NOT take your waist measurement over clothing.
HIP: This measurement is taken around the fullest part of your hips, about 6 to 7 inches below your belly button.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE do NOT take your hip measurement over clothing.
Fitting Tips:
- Adjustable, corset or lace-up style dresses are an excellent choice if you're between sizes.
- Bust and waist measurements are more important than hip measurements for very full A-line, or ball gown style dresses.
- Most dresses are easier to alter to fit smaller than to fit larger.

IMPORTANT: We order the size from the information supplied to us by you. You are responsible for selecting your own size based on the manufacturer's size chart. We cannot suggest or choose a specific size for you; we can only give you information on how to take your measurements. Many women do fall between sizes. In this case, it is best to order the size that matches the larger measurement. Obviously the dress will be a bit too large in one or more areas, so you do have to plan for alterations. Please be aware that we are not responsible if you order an incorrect size
